Celebrating 35 years of INCITE

Since 1991, WAITTA's INCITE Awards have championed Western Australian technology innovation excellence. Thirty-five years on, INCITE remains Australia's longest-running tech awards program and Western Australia's exclusive gateway to the national iAwards and international Asia-Pacific ICT Alliance Awards, putting our trailblazers on national and global stages.

As Board Directors for the Western Australian Innovation, Technology & Talent Alliance (WAITTA) and Co-Chairs of this milestone 35th year, we couldn't be prouder to drive a platform that keeps backing Western Australian talent, year after year.

This project delivers a real-time adaptive protection system that dynamically updates grid settings as conditions evolve, enhancing reliability and preventing costly failures. Backed by $180,000 from BHP and validated in one of Australia's two advanced IEC 61850 laboratories, it enables scalable deployment across modern digital substations and future power networks.

AI-Assisted Vision-Based Video Navigation for Peripheral Bronchoscopy to Improve Early Lung Cancer Diagnosis

This project develops an AI-assisted, video-augmented bronchoscopy navigation system that overlays real-time heads-up guidance onto existing bronchoscopy video. By fusing CT imaging with live video, it improves targeting of peripheral lung lesions, clinician confidence, and procedural accuracy without new hardware, robotics, or workflow disruption, enabling scalable, low-cost adoption in healthcare.

Building, Correcting and Updating High-Fidelity 3D City Maps for Western Australia

This research and development project gives Western Australia a practical way to build, correct, and update high-fidelity 3D city maps. Combining multimodal mapping, satellite-aided map correction, and object-level change intelligence, it turns 3D point-cloud into trusted digital infrastructure for transport, planning, infrastructure monitoring, long-term map maintenance, and smarter urban decision-making.

Hybrid EEG-fNIRS AI for Hearing Assessment

An innovative AI driven neurotechnology platform that objectively measures hearing function directly from brain activity. By combining EEG and near infrared brain sensing with deep learning, the solution enables accurate, inclusive assessment without behavioural responses, opening new pathways for accessible, data driven hearing healthcare and scalable digital health innovation.

Precision psychiatry is powerful, but high technical barriers prevent its use in the clinic. Hypatia breaks these barriers with a scalable, browser-based platform that interprets human behaviour at the causal level. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) remains one of the leading causes of mortality in Australia, yet early detection is still limited. Near real-time congestion cost monitoring

Main Roads WA worked with Deloitte, supported by AWS, to develop and deploy a near real-time Network Operations Data Platform, enabling continuous monitoring and visualisation of congestion across the State Road Network.
